Privacy policy: Gmail for Claude Code

Last updated 3 October 2026

Who we are

Gmail for Claude Code is a private tool run by Patrick Bosworth (Lanhaln Limited, Isle of Man). It is used only for Gmail accounts belonging to members of his household, and only with each account holder's permission. It is not offered to the public.

What the tool accesses

With the account holder's consent, given on Google's sign-in screen, the tool can read the account's email, labels and settings. It can also apply labels, archive messages, mark them read, move them to Bin, create filters, and send unsubscribe requests on the account holder's behalf. It cannot permanently delete email.

How the data is used

The data is used only to organise the account holder's own mailbox: sorting, archiving, unsubscribing from unwanted mail, and preparing summaries of important email for the account holder. Email is processed on Patrick Bosworth's own computer and by Anthropic's Claude AI assistant, which carries out these tasks.

What we do not do

Email data is never sold, never used for advertising, and never shared with anyone except as described above.

Use and transfer of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Keeping and removing data

Backups of the household's own mailboxes are kept privately on the household's own computer and storage. An account holder can withdraw access at any time at myaccount.google.com/connections, and can ask for any local copies to be deleted.
